What is hotshot freight?
Hotshot freight is urgent, dedicated transport for a single load that cannot wait for a scheduled service: one truck, one load, one run, straight to the site that needs it. JM Legg Hotshots runs hotshot freight for mining and industry across Western Australia and interstate, usually parts, tooling and components, from Perth workshops and suppliers to mine sites, shutdowns and remote sites in the Goldfields, the Mid West, the Pilbara and the Kimberley.
Breakdown parts
A machine is down and the part it needs is sitting in Perth. That is the job hotshot freight exists for. Tell us where the part is and where it has to be. We pick it up, restrain it properly and run it to site. Critical spares, tooling and components, moved with one aim: cut the downtime.
Shutdown support
Shutdowns run on a clock, and the clock does not care where the freight is. We run planned loads ahead of the window and reactive runs when something breaks mid-shut. Give us the site access requirements and the timing up front and we work to them, with site-ready documentation sorted before we roll, not at the gate.
Remote site runs
Pilbara, Goldfields, Mid West and the industrial hubs in between. Whether it's 10 km across Perth or 1,500 km into the Pilbara, the principle stays the same: pick it up, move it safely, get it there when it's needed. Long runs are planned around driver hours and fatigue rules, so some need a second driver. We tell you that when we confirm the price, not after.
After hours
Breakdowns do not keep office hours. Dispatch is 24/7, so a night or weekend pickup is a phone call, not a favour. You get updates while the load is moving and proof of delivery when it lands.
Right-sized transport
You're not paying for the truck, you're paying for certainty. A pallet of parts does not need a semi-trailer, and it should not have to wait for one either. We run the loads that are too small or too urgent for the big carriers, and we work alongside existing logistics contracts rather than against them.
How the estimate works
The quote form asks where the freight is, where it's going, how heavy the whole load is and whether the run is urgent or planned. The price is per kilometre of road distance from pickup to delivery, one way, and the rate depends on the weight and the urgency. A set amount of loading and unloading time is included, and extra time on site is charged as demurrage. When the form can find the route, it shows an indicative figure straight away, with the fuel levy and GST already included. It gives no automatic figure when it can't find the route or when the load is over 12 tonnes: call or send the request, and Jarrad comes back to you. Any figure is indicative, not fixed, and Jarrad confirms the final price with you before anything moves.
Rates are indicative. Final pricing depends on load size, timing, and site access. Estimates also depend on driver availability and safety requirements, including maximum daily driving hours for single drivers and the need for additional drivers on urgent deliveries.
